The NFL has officially released its 2023 schedule. After months of planning for all the logistics that go into how the NFL schedule is made, it’s finally here. With the weekly schedule set, fans now begin to salivate over which games are must-see.

The tailgates begin to get planned, and the parties begin to come to fruition. What the NFL does a masterful job of is creating storylines for the fans to get excited for. Whether it’s the prime-time games or the quarterback matchups, fans will have much to look forward to in 2023. Here are the top storylines fans will look forward to.

Storylines From NFL Schedule 2023 Release Include Mahomes vs. Rodgers

This year’s storylines are plentiful and full of drama. We have:

• The first-ever matchup between legends.
• We are officially on undefeated watch.
• We likely don’t have to worry about anyone calling OSHA this year.
• Is Andy Reid Thanos?
• All eyes on the Big Apple via New Jersey.

Patrick Mahomes vs. Aaron Rodgers

This is the first time ever that these two quarterbacks will be on the same field at the same time. It seems fitting in a way. Aaron Rodgers seemingly perfected the Steve Young legacy of being effectively mobile, while also being a lethal aerial assassin. For nearly a decade and a half, our jaws dropped over some of the things he’s done.

Patrick Mahomes has taken it to another level. There’s an explosion factor with Mahomes that we’ve really never seen before, but Rodgers and Young are the ones who laid the groundwork. Rodgers is now on the way out sooner rather than later, and with all that Mahomes has achieved in his career, in many ways, he’s just getting started. This is a legacy matchup.

Can the Chiefs Go Wire to Wire?

Speaking of Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, now that the weekly schedule has been released, Kansas City is the only team to be favored in all 17 games they play, according to DraftKings. I don’t think anyone expects them to go undefeated in the regular season, but I also don’t think anyone would be overly surprised.

In recent years, the small number of games that Kansas City has lost, many included self-inflicted wounds. They seem to always have those couple of games where they’re playing with their food, and sometimes, the food gets away.

With the Chiefs being favored in every single game, undefeated watch is officially on.

A Song of Ice and Fire

Last year, in Week 3, the Miami Dolphins defeated the Buffalo Bills at home. The conversation following the game was about the intense Miami heat that the Bills were subjected to during the game, which seemed to wear Buffalo down as the game hung in the balance.

Miami’s stadium is designed so that at a certain point in time during the afternoon, the visiting sideline is fully in the sun, while the home sideline is in the shade. In Miami, they call it home-field advantage. In Buffalo, they wanted to call OSHA.

Now that the schedule has been released, we know the Dolphins will play the Bills early in the season, but in Buffalo. This will remove the heat issue for the Bills, but there is a trade-off.

Last season, Miami and Buffalo’s second meeting had an incredible amount of snow and freezing temperatures. With the Dolphins hosting the Bills at the end of the 2023 regular season, Buffalo will also lose their home-field weather advantage. Both teams may be okay with it, but the fans lose out on a true elemental matchup.

The Infinity Gauntlet

Last year, the Chiefs scored 496 points — best in the league by three touchdowns. Well, the Mad Titan of schedule-making decided that they needed more of a challenge.

This year, Kansas City will face all four of the teams directly below them in points scored for 2022 and five of the top seven. How the Chiefs do in those games will likely play a huge factor in if they have to travel during the postseason.

The Aaron Rodgers Effect

The Jets have been given the maximum six prime-time games in 2023. Surely this is because last year they had a winning season, a deep postseason run, and are ready to take the next step?

Nope.

This is only because New York acquired Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has ensured all eyes, whether they like it or not, will be on the Big Apple this season. Those eyes will then peer across the Hudson River to New Jersey, where the Jets actually play.

The question that needs to be answered is, can the rest of the Jets handle the pressure? There are expectations on this team that haven’t really been there since the days of Rex Ryan tattooing his wife in a Mark Sanchez jersey on his body.
