Who Is Singing the National Anthem at the 2023 NFL Draft?

Now that the NFL Draft is one of the biggest television events of the sports calendar and serves as a big-time in-person entertainment destination, the NFL must give it its proper pageantry. Just like at every NFL game and the Super Bowl, the NFL Draft has a designated National Anthem singer. Artists from Chloe x Halle to Ann Wilson have all been given the opportunity to lead the singing of the NFL Draft National Anthem.

Rising Country Superstar To Sing National Anthem at 2023 NFL Draft

This year, the NFL Draft National Anthem singer will be Brittney Spencer. Spencer is considered a “rising country music superstar.” Her hits include “Sorrys Don’t Work No More”, “Sober and Skinny”, and “Wake Me Up (A Fever Dream).” The Baltimore native credits her musical career to her early days singing in her church, and the cultural impact church had on her.

The NFL Draft National Anthem singer told Baltimore Magazine, “Church, for me, was very cultural. It’s spiritual but also very cultural. Families like mine, we couldn’t really afford singing lessons or anything like that, so I just sang in the church all the time.” Her family is also musical, with her father having been part of a quartet band.

She went on to be influenced by various artists to leave her mark on country music. She uniquely blends soul sounds with the foundations of country music, which has helped her be labeled in 2021 as one of Spotify’s “Hot Country Artists to Watch” list.

Spencer will sing the National Anthem at the NFL Draft from the National WWI Museum and Memorial. The museum is a popular attraction in Kansas City, having been commissioned in 1919 following the end of the war. People raised $2.5 million in just 10 days, which would be the equivalent of $40 million today, in order to commemorate the end of the war and victory. In 2004, the United States Congress designated it as the nation’s official World War I museum.
