NFL Draft Concert Series: Kansas City Headlining Acts Revealed

The NFL Draft has become its own industry in recent years, attracting massive interest from a community hungry for all the drama and excitement of football, minus the disappointment that 31 teams face by the end of each season. In other words, the NFL Draft instills some measure of hope for every team and its fandom, as each franchise aims to improve across three exciting days.

Part of that excitement stems from ancillary events that heighten the spectacle. It’s not just about drafting players. It’s also about the football community coming together to celebrate a monumental event. That includes the NFL Draft Concert Series, which this year will feature live performances from three famous bands.

Who Is Performing at the NFL Draft Concert Series?

When the first round of the NFL Draft wraps up, it’ll be time to dance to Fall Out Boy. Or sway. Or sit quietly and mouth the words if you know them. The band from the Chicago suburbs formed 22 years ago. Bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz reportedly does not think he’s related to Carson Wentz. So if they break out a tune in honor of the former Eagles and Commanders QB, it’ll simply be a coincidence.

Day No. 2 of the NFL draft will consist of the second and third rounds. At their conclusion, Mötley Crüe will perform before hitting the road for yet another tour. What do I mean by “yet another?” Well, they first formed in 1981. That was 42 years ago. ESPN was still a fledgling cable network when they first rocked out.

For context, imagine we’re back in 1981, and a band called Country Moo is celebrating 42 years together. That means they would have formed in 1939. That’s *clears throat* a long time ago.

And after the draft’s final day, once Mr. Irrelevant has donned his cap for the cameras and already begun preparations to follow Brock Purdy’s footsteps and take the league by storm, Thundercat will be a fitting closing act for a thrilling three days of offseason NFL action.

Born “Stephen Lee Bruner,” Thundercat has been a professional musician for nearly a quarter century. He is also perhaps the only person in history to have a hit in Germany as a member of a boy band, then play live with Snoop Dogg, and then perform to close out the NFL Draft.

How do you fit all that on a one-page résumé? If anyone can, Thundercat can.
