How Many Draft Picks Did the Chiefs Have Entering the 2023 NFL Draft?
The Chiefs had seven picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, with three of them being their own. One was a compensatory pick, and the final three came via trades.
The Chiefs were without two of their own picks from the 2023 NFL Draft. They traded a third-round compensatory pick and their original sixth-round pick in a trade for Kadarius Toney. That third-round compensatory pick would eventually be fuel for the Giants to acquire Darren Waller from the Raiders.

Pick 122 from Miami was part of the Tyreek Hill trade to the Miami Dolphins. Meanwhile, pick 178 came from Miami as part of that same deal, but the pick originated when Chicago traded for Jakeem Grant in 2021. Kansas City entered the draft with both selections, but wound up moving around a bit on Day 3, and landed with picks 119 and 166 instead.
In the Hill trade, Kansas City received second and fourth-round selections in 2022, as well as fourth and sixth-round selections in 2023. They had another seventh-round pick in the bag when they traded Rashad Fenton to the Atlanta Falcons at the trade deadline, but the conditional nature of the trade was not met, and Atlanta recouped the pick.
Who Did the Chiefs Draft in 2023?
The Chiefs’ 2023 NFL Draft class should help them reload for another potential Super Bowl run, both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
The Chiefs started out the draft with a hometown product in Kansas State’s Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Anudike-Uzomah was one of college football‘s most productive pass rushers over the past two years, and he has the physical traits and hot motor to become a difference-maker on K.C.’s defensive line.
On Day 2, Kansas City shifted the focus to the offensive side of the ball, adding a dynamic three-level WR threat in Rashee Rice, and a traits-rich natural right tackle in Wanya Morris. Then, the Chiefs shifted back to the defensel on Day 3, picking up Chamarri Conner, B.J. Thompson, Keondre Coburn, and Nic Jones.
