History of Green Bay Packers First-Round NFL Draft Picks All Time

The Green Bay Packers have never been wholly dependent on first-round NFL Draft picks, but their successes in Round 1 have helped them maintain relevance.

History of Green Bay Packers First-Round NFL Draft Picks All Time

What does the Green Bay Packers‘ full history of first-round picks in the NFL Draft look like? As one of the original NFL teams from the 1936 NFL Draft, the Packers have plenty of selections to browse through. And though their success in Round 1 has fluctuated at times, they’ve always been a mainstay on the playoff stage.

Green Bay Packers First-Round Draft Picks Throughout History

The Packers are a team whose success, more than most, has not been predominantly dependent on first-round production. Some of the team’s most pivotal players, like Bart Starr and Brett Favre, were late-round selections who blossomed into league-beaters.

Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that, across Green Bay’s entire first-round pick history since 1936, the team only has four Hall of Fame selections in Round 1. That said, Sterling Sharpe might’ve been considered for HOF placement had his career been longer. And Aaron Rodgers — a four-time MVP and Super Bowl winner — is a shoo-in once he retires.

In the next Packers era, with Jordan Love leading the charge, a new wave of first-round picks will be relied upon to bring Green Bay back to prominence.
