The 2023 redraft fantasy football season is rapidly approaching, with managers beginning their summer research to see what changes have taken place over the NFL landscape thanks to a wild free agency period and NFL Draft. Given all the changes which have shaken up the positions, there is much for fantasy managers to consider this year. Who Are the Best Quarterbacks To Draft in 2023 Redraft Leagues?

Quarterback value in fantasy football drafts is completely dependent upon their overall ADP (Average Draft Position). A QB may be the clear first or second-best option at their position for fantasy, but if you have to spend a top-15 overall pick on them in your redraft leagues, you’re sacrificing a ton to be able to get them onto your roster.

If you play in a 1QB format — Superflex is a different conversation — and there are 12 teams in your league, then there will be only 12 starting quarterbacks each and every week. If you choose to draft Mahomes in the first round of your fantasy football draft — which we do not advise — no matter how talented he is, you’re leaving your roster vulnerable by not selecting a top-tier player at a position that you start multiple other players at.

This means that the overall ADP matters immensely when determining what QB is the best one to draft this season. For example, if Jalen Hurts is going to go off the board in the fourth round of your fantasy draft, that’s worth chasing after the upside.

Surveying the overall ADP landscape right now shows that Justin Fields is an immense value selection in fantasy drafts. Last season, in just 15 games, Fields ran for 1,143 yards and eight rushing touchdowns on a jaw-dropping 160 rush attempts!

That rushing upside is simply too much to pass up at his current ADP. When you factor in the potential leap that he could take due to offensive line reinforcements in front of him, plus the addition of D.J. Moore to this offense, Fields should be a target for you in every single redraft league this year.

A little bit further down the board, the rookie QB for the Indianapolis Colts is absolutely worth considering in redraft leagues. While it’s still unknown at the time of writing whether or not Richardson will be the starting QB in Week 1 for the Colts, he should be a target for every late-round QB strategist out there.

Richardson’s athletic profile is simply unmatched at the position. We’ve seen the revolution that mobile QBs have caused for fantasy football over recent seasons, but Richardson has the potential to outproduce them all.

At the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, Richardson put on an absolute show at 6’4” and 244 pounds. He ran a blazing 4.43 40-yard dash, jumped 40.5” in the vertical jump, and had a ridiculous 10’9” broad jump. This athleticism shows up on tape, too, which makes his upside for fantasy truly unmatched.

While he has some development to do as a passer, Richardson should provide a very high floor for fantasy football right out of the gate with his rushing ability. This makes him an incredibly enticing option to draft later on to pair with a more proven QB that you can plug into your starting lineup while Richardson gets his feet under him in the NFL.

One of those options to pair with Richardson could be Jared Goff. Last season, Goff commanded one of the league’s most high-powered offenses, and not much has changed going into 2023.

Ben Johnson is returning as the offensive coordinator in Detroit, which means continuity for Goff in the system again this year. With numerous receiving weapons, plus the addition of Jahmyr Gibbs out of the backfield, to go along with one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, Goff could dramatically outproduce his ADP again in 2023.

He doesn’t have the rushing upside that a lot of the other QBs above him in ADP do, but he should provide a very high floor for fantasy managers week in and week out.
